The Inclusion Conference is the newest addition to the NSSSA, so you may not have heard what we're all about... We're the Inclusion Conference Co-Chairs for 2010, Meagan Soley and Brenna Farmer, and we're here to get you informed and excited!
H.A.N.D.S (Helping Adolescents Navigate their Dreams Successfully) is the name of
this years Inclusion Conference! For those of you who are unaware, the InclusionConference is the NSSSA's conference for High School Students with Special Needs. It is a one day conference held on March 6th, at Auburn Drive High School. "What goes on at the Inclusion Conference?", you may ask! All of your favourite NSSSA activities from skillbuilding sessions, and an EPIC, to a talent show and a dance, a motivational speaker and 'how-to's! It is truly an amazing experience!
HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?
Become a Delegate, a Skillbuilder, or Delegate Assistant!
Delegate: A High School Student with Special Needs, who is interested in meeting new people, learning new skills, and making some unforgettable memories! Forms are due: February 17th, 2010
Skillbuilder: Has a very similar job as a skillbuilder at a regional conference. They get to lead the Delegates and Delegate Assistants through games and activities designed tomake friends, build confidence and leadership. To become a skillbuilder, you must have skillbuilt at a Regional or Provincial Conference. Forms are due: February 10th, 2010
Delegate Assistant: Are paired up with a Delegate for the day! You will be attending skillbuilding sessions with them, getting to know them, and help them out throughout the day! Forms are due: February 10th, 2010
Skillbuilders and Delegate Assistants are required to attend a Retreat on
February 27th, 2010
to learn everything you will need to know!
It is $50.00 for everyone to attend.
H.A.N.D.S. Pop Tab Contest:
We have a challenge for all H.A.N.D.S. '10 participants!
- Collect as many pop tabs as you can between now and conference.
- Bring them to conference, and pool them with your Skillbuilding Group.
- The group with the most tabs wins a sweet prize!
- All of the collected pop tabs are put towards a Wheel Chair through the
Abilities Foundation for someone in need! : )
