New Business:

Grade Nine Conference: The conference itinerary was reviewed with the members of the Metro Cabinet. The late-night activity must be chosen for the conference. The Mostest, which has been used in the past presents a few flaws. These flaws include: not engaging all delegates at a time, and often features repeated delegates for many rounds. This could be improved by making the challenges for Epic be based more upon skills than physical appearance, showcasing a larger number of delegates’ talents. In the future, skillbuilding groups could compete throughout the conference, this would include outside of the late-night activity. Scoring for a conference long competition could be based upon: Spirit, Epic, Best Group Cheer and Most Energy. There will be no engagement sessions at the grade nine conference due to time constraints. The conference will be running from 9am-9pm in either late February or early March.

Grade Nine Conference Name: The members of the Metro Cabinet shared suggestions for potential names for the 2017 Metro Grade Nine Conference. The original names suggested are: Bridges, Global, Atom(s), Explore, Explode, Build, Altitude, Heights, Reach, and Achieve. The list was narrowed down to Global or Altitude. Fortesa Sahiti raised the point that Global would convey that everyone at the conference has come from different backgrounds, everyone supported by their own unique foundations. Armaan Dhillon added that Global would show that the skills delegates gain from the conference can be utilized to impact the world on a greater scale, it is all about thinking bigger. The name Altitude has potential to inspire a great logo for the conference. A potential slogan was created that can be used with either of the two potential names. If Global was selected then the slogan could be “Think Big”, and if Altitude was selected the slogan could be “Reaching New Heights”. The members of the Metro Cabinet are to come up with acronyms that could potentially be used for A.L.T.I.T.U.D.E. or G.L.O.B.A.L. if selected as the grade nine conference name.

Partner Positions: Any member of the Metro Cabinet who holds a position partnered with one or more individuals is to write a brief review of the quality of work that their partner(s) has/have completed to date. These will be sent to the co-premiers by email no later then Saturday December 3rd, 2016 at 19:00.

Ciara Harris motioned to adjourn the meeting at 20:03 and Becca MacAulay seconded said motion.
