ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

The NSSSA is divided into four main groups.

  • Provincial Cabinet
  • Inclusion Committee
  • Conference Committee
  • Regional Cabinets.

Provincial Cabinet

The Provincial Cabinet takes care of the day to day running of the organization. It is comprised of a President, two Vice Presidents and twelve Regional Co-Premiers. These positions are filled by election at the provincial conference in May.  Also sitting on Provincial Cabinet are two Conference Co-Chairs, two Inclusion Co-Chairs, two Gala Co-Chairs, a Provincial Advisor, a Webmaster, Media Relations, a Secretary, a Treasurer, six Regional Advisors and a Financial Advisor.

Inclusion and Conference Committees

The Inclusion Committee and Conference Committee organize NSSSA’s two provincial conferences.  The Inclusion Committee designs a one-day conference for students with special needs held in March, while the Conference Committee organizes a four-day provincial conference held in May.  Two sets of Co-Chairs, appointed by the President and Vice-President, run the committees.  Both the Conference Committee and the Inclusion Committee include several appointed positions such as Secretary, Treasurer, 3-tions, WENDY, Public Relations, Skillbuilding Co-Chairs, Head Chaps, Head Logistics, Head First Aid, and Warm Fuzzies.

Regional Cabinets

There are Regional Cabinets in each of the six regions of the province (Cape Breton-Victoria, Chignecto, Metro, Sou’West, Strait, Valley) that organize a day-long or overnight leadership conference for their region’s high school students which is typically held each fall or early winter. Each regional cabinet includes the elected Co-Premiers and several appointed positions such as Secretary, Treasurer, 3-tions, WENDY, Public Relations, Skillbuilding Co-Chairs, Head Chaps, Head Logistics, Head First Aid, and Warm Fuzzies.
