Hello Everyone!

Our names are Carly Avery and Jessica Delorey and we are the Co-Premier’s of the Strait Region for the 2012-2013 year.  We are very excited for an amazing year which is already well underway!

Strait’s Grade Nine Conference, S.U.P.E.R. ‘12 (Students Understanding their Potential Excellence in Reality), was hosted at the Strait Area Education and Recreation Centre (SAERC) in Port Hawkesbury on October 13th.  With more than 105 delegates in attendance we could not have asked for a better way to kick off the NSSSA season! Conference allowed for grade nine students to indulge in all the most loved NSSSA trademarks, including a dance, talent show, skillbuilding sessions, EPIC, and so much more! Our speaker, Roxanne Power, delivered a very touching and inspirational message about the importance of persevering.  We couldn’t have asked for anything better!

This year’s Strait Regional Conference was held on the weekend of November 24th and 25th at St. Francis Xavier University.  H.E.R.O. ‘12 (Helping Everyone Realize Opportunities), was a huge success!  With close to 250 people attending in total it was a great representation for the Strait Region!  Our speaker, Matt LeMoine, a past NSSSA president,  provided a very comical speech about finding heros in everyday people.  With a talent show, dance and some scrumptious meals conference was an overall blast!

Even though our conferences have wrapped up for the year, the Strait Region is by no means winding down.  Stay tuned for more events in the Strait Region!  We hope to see you there!
