Governance
Governance is how NSSSA is controlled and overseen. It is how NSSSA is connected to members (students). While nonprofit organizations don’t have owners, you can think of members like the “ownership” of NSSSA.
NSSSA members are high school students in Nova Scotia who have attended our events.
Members have the right to:
- Be informed of policies and expectations
- Receive fair and unbiased treatment
- Ask questions and access financial and governance information
- Participate in elections
- Join and be heard at meetings of the Provincial Cabinet
Provincial Cabinet
We are governed by a Provincial Cabinet (board of governors) comprised of elected and appointed student leaders who oversee the strategic direction of the organization. Provincial Cabinet is supported by advisors and guided by NSSSA’s bylaws and policies.
Key Provincial Cabinet roles include:
- President
- Vice-President External
- Vice-President, External
- Regional Co-Premiers and Committee Chairs
These individuals are responsible for implementing policy, managing events, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.
Standing Committees
- Governance & Policy Planning
Financial Transparency
NSSSA is committed to responsible financial stewardship. To support this commitment, we plan to publish financial reports and summaries on this page, including:
- Annual budgets
- Spending breakdowns
- Fundraising and sponsorship reports
These documents are to be made available to members and the public to promote accountability and trust in our operations.
Meeting Minutes
To further support transparency in decision-making, NSSSA publishes Provincial Cabinet meeting minutes on this page. These records provide insight into the discussions, motions, and decisions made by the organization’s leadership. Minutes are posted regularly and are accessible to all members.
