HALIFAX – The Nova Scotia Secondary School Students’ Association is inviting members of the public to provide feedback on a series of proposed changes to its governing documents.
The proposed amendments are designed to modernize the association’s bylaws in line with our new realities, enhance clarity and transparency, and ensure the organization continues to serve its members effectively.
The changes include:
- Revisions to election procedures, reflecting input from members, chaperones and advisors, and allowing participation in elections remotely.
- Adjustments to the composition and structure of the Provincial Cabinet and the process for appointing roles.
- Expanded guidance for the Annual General Meeting, including a default agenda and improved notice requirements, as well as provisions for Special General Meetings.
- Language to support the recently introduced Code of Conduct, including new checks and balances.
- A requirement for Provincial Cabinet meetings to be open to all NSSSA members.
- Updated organization and numbering to enhance readability.

Community members are encouraged to share their input by joining a presentation and roundtable discussion on Tuesday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. via Microsoft Teams, or by contacting the Governance Committee directly.
